Progress 12-08-01
The fourth team has arrived back.
The stair well, small wards and the large ward have been decorated. Doors have been fitted to most of the rooms
upstairs and a bathroom installed. The
landing area has been decorated and a refreshment bar built in one corner. It’s looking good for a September opening!
The ex-library vehicle has been driven out to Constanta – not
without adventure! The conversion into
a mobile health unit will now be done at the hospice.
We are getting a good press in Romania: Telegraf article

The reception area has been completed!
Progress 19-06-01
The third team has arrived back.
The entrance hall and reception area has been prepared, painted and
decorated with splendid ‘Winnie The Poo’ characters. Upstairs, all rooms now have lighting
and power and the installation of central heating is nearly complete. Doors have been fitted, walls prepared and a
start made on the decoration of the small wards for the very sick
children. We met
some of the orphaned children.
Progress 01-06-01
The second team has arrived back.
They managed to complete the consulting rooms downstairs – doors fitted,
walls tiled and everything painted.
We’ve had a great response to the sale of plastic bags and their
return loaded with toiletries, needed for the mobile health unit. Look what a
primary school in Berkshire achieved!
Progress 15-05-01
The Samaritan Purse trailer, loaded with essential materials for
our next phase of the work in the hospice, left for Constanta on Saturday (12th
May).
Progress 02-05-01
The first team has arrived back.
They made great progress!
The ceilings and electrics were completed in the consulting rooms
downstairs – look, the lights even work!
Upstairs they constructed the partitions to form the wards.
Meanwhile the local labour (part funded by us) is making good
progress on tiling the reception area floor.
You can just make out the boiler for the hot water supply and
central heating – it gets down to minus 20 deg in the winter!
Progress 12-04-01
The ‘boys’ in Constanta having been working hard on preparation
work for the team arriving on the 23rd April.
Some of the consulting room partition walls
are now up.
Meanwhile the Hungarian government has now agreed to let the Samaritan
Purse trailer through to Romania. We
have bought loads of tiles etc., which will be driven out in this trailer.
Progress 06-04-01
On Monday 9th April, Ron will start fixing all the partitions
for the consulting rooms, ready for the April team, who will be putting in the
electrics.
Floors are being prepared in the consulting
rooms area.
Ron has all the major pipes in as far as he can go until the walls
are up.
He has been doing all the floors on the first floor, to get all
the wet jobs done, so as not to affect the plaster board and the ceilings.
BA have agreed to give us a special price for our air tickets to
Romania
