STEPS Romania  2-10 June 2007

There were 15 people in the STEPS June team.  This picture also shows at the back Daniel and Ema, who run the Romanian charity FAST which we are helping.

Each day was started with a team meeting, preceded with a reading, prayer and song.

The May team had used a bulldozer to build a path to the front door.

The June team did some basic landscaping.

They tiled, decorated and plumbed one toilet, which is now in use, and they tiled the other.

Good progress was made on insulating and cladding the outside walls.

A splendid frieze was painted and fitted in the main room of the welfare centre.

Large letters of the alphabet were fixed to the central support beam.

The PC was connected to the projector and dimmers fitted for the stage lighting.

Time was spent with the children who came to the centre each day.

The June team were saddened to see the poor state of the Roma villages.
